. here we go... G-CASH Can you imagine the possibilities? This is going to be great. :-)
:-) 85 DAYS LATER We got the brief for this project way back in July. Cut-to: tomorrow. Tomorrow we launch. We're finally launch it! A service that might just be considered life-changing. And even as we launch PROJECT: SUPERBOWL tomorrow, it does not mean the end of the work but the beginning of a very large campaign (which would hopefully be given to another team as I hope to take a very long break). Names have power, they say. SUPERBOWL definitely felt like the mother of all football games. Our amazing competitors tackled us by launching first, so we had to come back with something bigger and better. At every point, at every stage of the project something would tackle us and take us down, and we hit the ground hard. But everyone just kept standing up and kept running for the goal. (In my case, it was more like dragging myself to the goal.) When we stepped out of the Adboard buidling this afternoon, with permit in hand, my boss got a text from her sis...
. FROM: TRACE issue no. 35 http://www.trace212.com SUNDAY: to some, a day for Jesus or prayer. To others a different god, or even a belief in fundamental rites of passage, of paying tribute to existence—ceremony if you will. In Tokyo there are no churches, only shrines, idols, pop stars, cartoons, and the dreams of obsessed teenage girls believing in defying the social norm of ritual and honor by becoming the rock star images that they see while playing the park. The faith is laid on the forward sidewalk edge of super Tokyo’s capital of fashion: Harajuku . Teenage girls group like a school of fish in a feeding frenzy, the common ground being the arena of Yoyogi Park, an exhibitionist whirlpool and paparazzi showdown. Once inside the beepbopped, heart-throbbed, Hello Kitty freight train phenomenon circle, you are beside yourself. These models are legends in their own lunchbox, as if eclipsing the real world amidst their temple-shrine, involved in the ritual and faith in be...
. HOTELBOY'S LIFE JOURNAL PROJECT I'm starting a project. Every month I will ask people to fill one page with anything and everything that really really really really really matters to them. Not just to fill one's time but something to fill one's life. Parang utot baga, paghindi nailabas ikamamatay mo. If I like it, I will publish it. Promise. Since I'm spending money on this, I am the only judge. Tough shit, but that's life. Fresh, resonant, memorable, with a high level of craftsmaship - these are my criteria. There is no marketing agenda behind this project so if you're looking for a sale this is not the venue for you. I can hook up photographers with models with people with clothes with places with things with whatever I can within my power - but ultimately it is your own production, time and expense. I can only promise a blank page, printing, and getting it out to as many people as I can. I am not looking for consensus nor agreement. If you...
. Saturday. At the office. It's 10:15pm. Haven't had lunch. Waiting. Working. Waiting. Revising. Waiting. I need demand require to take a really really long break after all of this. Please. Saturday nights used to be fun.
:-) REVISING HISTORY Text message from Maricel about her eight year old kid: Joey so funny. He was bored doing a report on Filipino heroes based on what he read. He wanted to change their life stories and invent stuff. Bagong idol nya si Gregerio del Pilar. Bat daw si Rizal ang national hero. Dapat yung idol nya. ( Joey might grow up to become a great spin doctor)
. Ang guitara ni Pammy Baka mas trip ni Pammy ito... Found these in http://www.daisyrock.com/ Made me remember BATCH72. Wonder when we'll see them again.
FINALLY! The last chapter of David Hontiveros' CANTE ISTA is now available in the latest issue of QUESTOR. It's just too bad that QUESTOR EXTREME got cancelled. There were some interesting stories in that book. And Marco's ninja story was supposed to appear there too. Now, I wonder if Questor will compile CANTE ISTA into trade paperback. (thanks to Fero for posting the CANTE ISTA page)
As little as one cup of coffee a day can result in caffeine addiction , according to new research. "Caffeine is the world’s most commonly used stimulant, and it’s cheap and readily available. The latest research demonstrates that when people don’t get their usual dose they can suffer a range of withdrawal symptoms, including headache, fatigue and difficulty concentrating. They may even feel like they have the flu, with nausea and muscle pain." http://news.scotsman.com/scitech.cfm?id=1145562004 Damn! That explains everything. I AM AN ADDICT! DAMN YOU STARBUCKS! DAAAAAMMNNNN YOU!!!
. While four hurricanes hit Florida, seems like a different kind of storm is hitting the team. The projects --and revisions-- just never seem to end. Which is the reason for my not being able to blog and phlog. So in place of my ranting and raving, here's something which I found thanks to the almighty Google. Something Tals used to read during those times in Dredd and Malate. Space by Natalia "Tals" Diaz There is a space Between eyeblinks Between breaths between fingers on a hand Between hands clasped in prayer There is a space Before laughter becomes a sigh, An infinite excitement Within the space of a soul-kiss There is a space Between a devil’s horns And an angel’s wings A space between The slivers of rain And the rays of the sun Between words Between sentences Between chapters And volumes There is a space Between the left and right side Of the brain Before the thought and the action Between today and tomorrow There is...
. It's 1:30 in the morning and I'm supposed to be writing this script but don't really know where to begin. So, I walk around the office and find the July issue of YOUNGSTAR on some A.E.'s desk and flip through it. And who do I find sandwiched in between the articles of rock star Rico Blanco and MTV VJ Sarah Meier? CARLO VERGARA! Branded as a POST MODERN HERO! Naks! Astig!
LOAD 4 LIVE SHOW CEBU CITY — The Internet Café Association of Cebu (ICAC) has discovered a new kind of online pornography which Internet users can pay to gain access to private rooms with naked women through their mobile phones. This has alarmed the group which noted that most of those patronizing the "load-per-view" online live shows are college and high school students around the country who have cellular phones and extra money to spare, said ICAC president Felix Cogal. In the load-per-view online live show, a woman opens a chat room account then turns on her web camera to entice other online chatters. When a number of male users start to chat with the woman, she will then ask them to send her cellphone load so she can start undressing and do lewd shows. Read the complete article at: Manila Bulletin Online. We've also heard stories of traffic cops getting paid-off with prepaid load as well. It's an almost "invisble" transaction. Da...

Stories from the Raffles Hotel

She was, he said, an aristocratic eighty year old French lady and he loved her with a passion that bordered on the physical. The young receptionist reached for her pen. The called went on to explain that he would be coming to Singapore during the first week in March. And his traveling companion would be arriving a few days earlier. Could arrangements be made to look after the old lady in his absence? Despite her impeccable French pedigree, he said, she was liable on account of her great age to be a touch cantankerous. The receptionist explained that the hotel was always delighted to look after elderly ladies, cantankerous or otherwise. Let’s hope so, the called added. She was the one true love of his life and had survived all three of his marriages. Somewhat taken aback by this demonstration of gallic candour, the girl inquired if the gentleman had any particular suite in mind? Just put her in the garage he said. When she finally arrived, the gleaming 1908 Peugeot quietly excelled all ...

. ALMOST THERE Tired. Bad trip. Just want this week to end. Tired. So hard to bring myself to work these days. The past weeks have been a blur. Seems like we've been doing the same thing over and over again. Bad batting average this week. Two got shot down today. Two new projects waiting in the wings. Revise. Re-present. Bad trip. Tired. At least I get to home early and maybe watch AMAZING RACE, if I don't fall asleep.
Welcome to Monday! Feels like the Monday before this. For the past four weeks—or is it three weeks?—I’ve been working on the same project. Just when we think we’ve got it, something changes and we start all over again. So, here we go again. This should be it. This has got to be it. Last round. Here we go. I really don’t want to look at how many hours we’ve logged on for this project. The weekend was just too short a break. I really need to take a longer break. (And most probably, when I do take that break, that’s when I work on the other comic book projects so it’s not really a break—but I’m not really complaining—well, at least, not yet.) So, welcome to Monday the 13th! May this be our lucky day!
reporting about the revolution Charlene Sawit's article on the Filipino "Comic Revolution" can now be read in KOMIX101. It contains interviews with Arnold Arre, Gerry Alanguilan, Carlo Vergara, Gilbert Monsanto, Ryan Orosco, the Night Shift team, and the Culture Crash crew.
. Hot White Chick Face it, one of these days Without you I'm just another Dorian Gray It's the fountain of youth It's the meaning of life Baby you're the best magazine advice So hot, so sweet, so WHET my appetite Gimme your hot white cum Gimme your hot white cum Gimme your hot white cum Gimme your hot white cum Hahahha… Liz Phair rocks ! PULP gave her eponymous (always wanted to use that word) album five oranges (or was it four and a half). Since I was quite familiar with her song “Extraordinary”, I decided to take chance with the whole album which was P420! So, here I am, alone at the office, playing Liz Phair at full blast and it finally reaches track 11, entitled H.W.C. and she starts singing “Gimme your hot hot cum”! hahahahaah! Crazy girl! Not exactly the right song to listen to while trying to write a serious story. hahahahha! But it served as a good enough distraction. Now back to work.
:-( aaachooo! i'm sick again. bad trip. but i've been a good boy. i've been taking my vitamins. i've been eating my veggies... ok, well, maybe not all of them. aaachhooo! time to go home.
. Alphabet City From JOBERT’s blog : I work nights. I go around the city from bar to bar. I meet lots of people. Different kinds. Straight, gay, bi, crooked, innocent, etc. As I do my rounds, I get to see how love is different from person to person. Let me enumerate: 1. Miss A is pretty, smart and devastated. 2. Mr. B has a girlfriend in a KTV bar. 3. Miss C is confused. 4. Mr. D took long to acknowledge that there is love between him and this woman. Now they are having an affair. 5. Miss E is a GRO. Every night she goes out with clients. 6. Mr. F is engaged. To a very pretty and intelligent woman. She doesn't know that he is gay. 7. Miss G is a high paid prostitute.
