G’s MEN.
I think that’s the proper way to describe Grant Morrison’s NEW X-MEN.
It’s the old back to basics approach. Let’s see if Grant pulls it off.
Grant has cut down his team to just five people. Cyclops, Jean Grey, and the Beast—all from the original X-Men. Wolverine, the most popular X-Men. And Emma Frost aka the White Queen aka your telepathic S&M bitch. And of course, Prof. X.
So, in Grant’s first issue, he re-introduces the problem between humans and mutants and the human solution to the mutant problem, the Sentinels.
Something new, something old
We meet the main villains of this three-part play, Mr. Trask, a dentist who is related to Bolivar Trask, the man who invented the Sentinels. He is recruited by a the mysterious Ms. Nova, who looks like a female Prof. X, and seems to have the power to match the old professor.
Once again, Grant comes in and introduces some funky concepts. The “astral lounge” was such a cool way of briefing the team. Instead of just seeing the professor’s giant head floating in the air, the team seemed like they were just having a casual talk.
The new “non-costumes” are also okay. It’s like a re-vamp of the original black and yellow costume during the Jack Kirby days. Some people are thrown off by the big yellow “X”, but I think it works. It’s the type of outfit that one can easily see in the clubs these days. And as Wolverine said, at least they now walk in broad daylight without feeling like a fool.
It’s off to a good start. So, try and grab a copy now. I think Comic Quest got extra copies. I’m sure Filbars would have ordered more than the usual number of copies, so try and check it out.

Just got to work.
Just got my Gaiman-fix. Ahhhhhhh!!!
Check out the excerpt from "American Gods" at Gaiman's journal.
Oh yeahhhh!!! Like sniffing Dream's sand.
Got my Morrison-fix last night when I finally got my copy of NEW X-MEN.
Will talk about that later.
Ohhh... yeah... everything's so colorful!!!

"I need a holiday from myself.
I need some time away from being me.
I'm worried about my health.
I seem to be bad company."
--lyrics from a song, i forget the name of the band, just heard on the radio on my way back to work, it's 11:24pm
Yes, I'm at the office.
The wallpaper right now is the cover of THE NEW X-MEN #114. They really look funky and I don't know how the fanboys will like like, but this so-called "new" X-Men definitely looks good to me!
Anyway, I went all the way to Megamall, hoping to get my copy of Grant Morrison's first issue.
Just my luck... the shipment got delayed... will arrive tomorrow.
I've seen the preview and read the reviews and I'm just dying to read that damned book!
I hate it when I undergo comic book withdrawal. I am such a comic book junkie!
I was hoping that getting that book would just make my day.
Because it's been such a loooooong day. Running around, driving here and there, recording four new radio commercials, finding out that one of the team is leaving... and off I went to Megmall, braving the 8pm traffic, only to get there and finding that there's nothing. You get all hyped up for nothing.
Bummer...
