Aling Geena! Pa-GLOOOBE!!!

We've been working on this project for the past two months and it was great to finally see it air.

One of the first ideas we had for this service involved super-heroes. Us, being the geeks, loved the idea. It was a matter of trying to sell it to client. Since the main idea behind the service is: no matter how tough things get, it's easy to get your friends together if you've got a Globe. So, we thought: super heroes always get into trouble and they always need help, so instead of using a Bat-signal, they'll just text the whole Justice Legion of Super Hero Avengers.

If we did push through with that idea, we would've had to face the logistical problem of designing and making 200+ super hero costumes.

The next idea that Taps came up with was a guy being chased by ninjas (or ninja... since that is supposed the plural of the word ninja, but it just sounds so cool to say ninjas). So, the guy is being chase by a bunch of ninjas, he texts his clan and 200+ samurai come to the rescue.

But Taps' other ideas were set in the Philippines, so he ended up rethinking the scenario and make it a guy being chased by rebels in the jungle. The guy sends out his text and 200+ soldiers come to the rescue.

The idea was further simplified to just show a guy being chased in the city by a gang of punks and the guy would be dressed in hiphop-wear. We even talked about how the punk gang would be dressed up like the gang in MAD MAX, but we eventually decided to just keep them in black outfits and that the other gang would be the colorful ones.

Here are the other types of gangs that we considered:

The soundtrack was originally supposed to start with a rock/metal music and would then shift to a hiphop dance beat. During the edit, the director presented an alternative song, which didn't sound action-packed, didn't sound heavy and foreboding. It was a light beat and had accompanying vocals to it. So, we made that into the peg of the music, but had to change the rhythm and change the lyrics. (And we kept revising the lyrics til the last minute.)

But we finally got approval and finally got to air it. :-)

Here's the original storyboard:

TRESE at the Summer Fiesta Komikon

Thanks to everyone who dropped by the Visprint table and the Alamat table!
(Got a text from Paolo that his preview books for FILIPINO HEROES LEAGUE got sold out before 6pm)

Very sorry we got there late.

As usual, I forgot to bring an electric fan for the booth, and thanks to my polar bear body, I was sweating buckets the minute I sat down. So, I must apologize to all the people who asked me to sign their books and I just ended up sweating on the pages.

I must also apologize to everyone that I already and forgot that already met them. (You have to help me out! I'm on old man!)

Many thanks to Melvin Arciaga for the TRESE caps that he created and designed for me and Kajo. You can check out Melvin's other creations at: http://vinarci.deviantart.com/

To the lucky ones, we hope you liked your exclusive sneak preview for Case #9.

As you can see, we're working as fast as we can to finish TRESE: BOOK 3.

And, of course, thank you and congratulations to TEAM:KOMIKON for another successful and very musical event!

Here's Gerry's vlog about the event:
