On my way to work, saw a traffic cop with gold handcuffs hanging on his utility belt. Which makes me wonder if gold handcuffs are mandatory in the city of Pasig. I also wonder if they have their version of the Miranda Rights. “You have the right be to spanked like a bad little boy!”

Also noticed this car repair shop that had the tagline, “Kalampag Specialist”. Which is the quickest way to describe exactly what you do. I mean, drivers like me don’t really know the difference between the engine and the radiator. All I know is that there’s this weird noise whenever my car hits a bump on the road. So, where should I bring my car? To the Kalampag Specialist! Ba-dum-bump!

Well, anyway I’m now at work.
It’s almost 5pm.
My day just begins.

Around noon today, got a call from the Publisher at the Top.
We have been officially rejected.
I should really be getting used to this.
But I don't.
Which makes me now wonder if this a sign that we would go for the slave-wages of that other publisher and hope that things will get better.

Well, at least we now know what she wants.
And maybe, sometime in the future, we'll end up with a comic book title that she'd want to publish.

And so, we give it another try.

Scenes from a mall at 10am


Just pulled-out issues from BATCH72 from the Filbars branch in Glorietta. I dropped off 60 copies of B72 back in November 2001. Nine months later, I’ve only sold 17 copies.

You know what that means?

I still can’t quit my day-job.

Meanwhile, CULTURE CRASH and WITCH continue to get sold out.

I did see old issues of MEG, when it was still in its handy “pocketbook” size.
It was an entire box full of issues from last year. So, I guess I’m not the only one with boxes of back issue.

On my way out, I saw a vendo machine that would usually have prepaid call cards, but instead contained Magic cards. The other thing you could get from the vendo machine we’re packs of cigarettes. Who would’ve thought that Magic cards and cigarettes would go together. Talk about being a bad influence on kids.

I passed by Timezone, which was mostly empty, expect for the clerks and security guards. But in one corner of the arcade, I saw two girls in their grey school uniforms, furiously battling each via the Street Fighter video game. Their way of dealing with academic pressure I guess.

Talking about school, the Inquirer today did a feature on the Ateneo. Don’t really know why. Maybe they plan to feature other schools as well. Anyway, one of their articles was called, “You know you’re Atenean if…” The funny thing is, a lot of the stuff they mentioned I didn’t know anymore. Jeez, much as changed. They even had a guide on places to eat inside and outside campus and the only one’s I recognized were the cafeteria and manang’s place at the gym. Everything else was new to me.

They also had a fashion spread that featured Ateneo students. One of the girls was only 16! Half my age! And she was a BABE! Is it just me or is today’s youth definitely better looking when were their age. Something in food… or the water… or maybe it’s cellular radiation.

Well, I’m back at work, about to write more ads that will convince you to use your cellphone.

Comic Quest Festival Mall Grand Opening and Comics Signing

Comic Quest Festival Mall is now open, and will have a grand opening celebration on August 25, Sunday at 2:00pm. To help promote the event, several comic book pros will be coming over to promote their work and sign their books. At this point, the comics pros involved include:

Been away for awhile... work just won't let up.
Which is why Friday and Saturday nights are usually spent with my orc army and the rest of guys (and girl).

ECONOMY & BUILDINGS

1. 4-5 workers sa gold .. 5-6 sa lumber
2. expand kayo... para may resources kayo.. para di makuha ng computer.
3. building placement.. basic muna kayo.. wag nyo ikalat yung buildings nyo at wag din masakip masyado.
4. expand kayo
5. wag naman kayo mag defensive structures na sobrang layo sa base nyo.. mas ok sila pag nasa base di ba..

HEROES
1. pls don't let your hero die while creeping
2. always have your hero when you're creeping /attacking. para mag gain sya ng level. parang marvel
yan di ba.. gusto nyo nandun yung hero nyo para maraming karma pts ;)
3. spend your heroes skill points
4. control your hero during combat. eto mahirap. lalo na kung melee hero nyo. kaya ako madalas ranged hero ;) always remember that F1 key = 1st hero recruited, F2 = 2nd, F3 = 3rd. pag nasa combat na kayo.. tignan nyo yung hero portrait.. pag nakikita nyong nadadamage ng husto.. press.. f1-f3 tapos click away from combat. mamatay na lahat wag lang hero..
5. pls pick up items dropped by creeps

COMBAT
1. don't always engage.. pag kita nyong mas marami yung kalaban eh lumayo naman kayo...
2. use the town portal.. to help an ally.. or to get away from combat.. eto medyo mahihirapan kayo lalo na kung di kayo sanay sa keyboard... turo ko mamaya kung maglalaro tayo ;)
3. protect the hero always
4. use scrolls, potions to aid you in combat.. may mabibili nyan sa mga tindahan
5. try to kill the enemy hero. isipin nyo na lang..mataas xp pag napatay ang hero ;)

COMMUNICATION

1. type kayo pag gusto nyo ng tulong sa pag attake ng creep.
2. use the alt-g [the exclamation mark thingie] to signal your allies
3. mag non stop alt-g kayo kung inaatake kayo ng comp. para malaman namin na meron na palang nangyayari.unless gusto nyong sumigaw dun parang yung mga maiingay sa area 51 at arena.. eheh

shortcut keys.. pinaka dapat ginagawa nyo ngayon. dapat masanay lang kayo.. basic lang yan. kung marnunong kayo mag type ng 2 kamay eh magagawa nyo to.

this is how i usually configure my troops.. eversince starcraft ganito na... at malamang sa warcraft 4 eh ganito pa rin....

1 <= my main troops.. with the heroes
2 <= spellcasting units
3 <= flying units
4 <= seige units
5 <= base
6 <= upgrade building thingie
7 <= altar
8-0 <= unit producing buildings

so gawa na kayo tapos i apply nyo... basta dapat every game pareho pa rin.. para di kayo naguguluhan.

alam nyo na naman kung paano di ba.. ctrl + number

pwede nyo ring i set yung rally point. para pag may nagawang unit diretso sa hero nyo o sa lugar na gusto nyo.

alam nyo na naman yung basics.. for example. naka ctrl-0 yung barracks nyo.. press 0 to get to the barracks then press 'g' to train a grunt. eh di mabilis. oks yan. kahit nasa combat kayo gumagawa kayo ng troops ;)

kaya suggestion ko mag focus muna kayo sa isang race hangga't alam nyo yung mga shortcut ng buildings at units. tsaka yung sa worker unit alamin nyo rin.. for example.. to build a barracks.. press 'b'uild.. 'b'arracks...

para sa tan brothers... go basic muna kayo...

brandie
- use archmage hero. ranged sya so ala sya sa frontline.. just don't let him get flanked. get water elemental and brilliance aura for skills. blizzard mahirap kasi nakakadamage ng kakampi. cast ka ng water elemental pantulong sa troops mo. pwedeng multiple water elementals.. may timer yan
- basic units ka rin.. footmen sa simula. then get the blacksmith.. tapos support with riflemen. tech to knights.. so knights + footmen ka muna. mag gryphon aviary ka rin para makagamit ka ng flying unit.
- kung gagamit ka ng 2nd hero.. get the paladin. para may healer ka. practice mo yung healing nya. tapos yung isang skill yung + sa armor
- mountain king hero is better pero mahirap gamitin. pero mas malakas talaga... stormbolt is a hero killer spell ;)
- use mortars for siege units.. siege units do more damage to buildings.. building killer bale.
- feel free to add priests and sorcs but they shouldn't be the bulk of your army.. priest + sorc + archmage brilliance aura = limitless mana ;)
- so brute force muna... footmen - riflemen - knights
- gryphon riders .. pag sanay ka na add the rest.

budj
- oohh yeah.. the orc.. my fav.. brute force personified.. hehe
- hero.. go for farseer.. again.. ranged kasi. same as brandie.. pag nadadamage.. ilayo mo.. go for chain lightning and wolves.
- errr... halos pareho kasi kayo ni brandie eh..similar kasi orc at humans.. so go grunts + headhunters. ikaw naman tech to taurens [ "strongest" land unit accdg to blizzard]. get the pulverize skill for them. so grunts + taurens + headhunters. feel free to add wyverns to the mix..
- catapults & raiders if you feel the need to destroy buildings fast but pls don't use raiders as your main force unless your sole purose is to destroy the enemy base.. they are weak vs other units.. ahh.. oo nga pala.. research mo yung pillage. ginagawa nun.. pag may grunt, raider, peon ka na nagaattack sa enemy building tumataas pera mo ;) yummy
- kung mang 2nd hero ka.. go for the tauren. go for the endurance aura and shockwave na siguro.. kasi ranged. yung stomp kailangan nasa melee range ka. mas ok yung blademaster.. pero mahirap gamitin.
- pag na master mo na yang grunts + taurens + headhunters tuturuan kita sa shamans.. baka di mo na iwanan ang orcs pag natuto ka na mag shamans ;)
- witch doctor yung healer nila.. healing ward gamit nya.. area effect yun.. so kung i cacast mo yun dalhin
mo lahat ng units mo dun.. the healing ward requires lvl 3 base though ;(

petite
- oks na yung laro mo.. you got game.. hehehe. wag ka lang papasindak kay mark pag umaattack na sa base mo.kaya mo yan ;)
- ingat lang sa pag blizzard.. mag water elemental ka muna + brilliance aura
- since fav mo riflemen.. research mo yung upgrades nila.. laki ng improvement
- pansin ko lang minsan di ka nag reretreat.. minsan retreat ka.. lalo na pag di kaya.. atras ka muna tapos i msg mo kami.. para sabay-sabay tayong aattack.
- try mo kaya rifleman + gryphon riders.. never tried it though.. ngayon ko lang naisip. pareho kasi yung upgrade nila eh.. tsaka malakas yung gryphon riders
- ah.. most important.. try not to get the hero killed ;)
