One of our client is leaving and the agency decided to give him a despedida in LA COCINA DE TITA MONING.
At first I didn’t want to go because of the workload and I thought La Cocina was the same Cocina in the food court of the mall.
Well, I went anyway, since my boss said, “Well, you better be there!”
And I’m glad I did go.
La Cocina is located inside the compound of Malacanang Palace and it turned out to be a house built in the 1930s. Our hostess is the granddaughter of Alejandro Roces Legarda. Alejandro’s wife was Dona Ramona Legarda or more affectionately called Tita Moning.
All the guests first gathered in this veranda-like area located outside the house, where we were severed drinks and toasted bread with queso de bola spread.
Before we could proceed to dinner, we were given a quick tour and history lesson about the house. Dinner was held on the second floor.
We had onion soup for starters, baked lapu-lapu served with grilled eggplant, followed by Solomillo—roast beef with gravy and potatoes (had two helpings of that!), and finally, their absolutely delicious bread pudding. The pudding melted in my mouth and tasted like it was dipped in leche flan. It was sinful.
Definitely have to go back there sometime. Bring the guys along. Maybe even have a murder mystery where everyone must dress up and assume identities of characters from the 1940s.
Well, I'm sure the food critics out there would do a better job at raving about the food of Tita Moning. Click on the link below for some quick links about this lovely place.

GLENN'S BLOG
My office mate finally gets into blogging. Here's his first post.
"So here's another blog to clog up the infinite vastness of the Web. I'm an advertising copywriter and you'd think I'd balk at adding another writing chore to the list of things I have to do: brush teeth, take bath, wish for a boyfriend, do blog, go to work, create wonderful copy for products people don't really need...Did I already say, wish for a boyfriend? So now, instead of just privately wishing for a mate, I'm going to be headlining that and other Titanic-like neuroses all over the Internet. As if you all need to read one more gay man's screw-ups...Yay me!"
