- This is space. It's sometimes called the final frontier.(Except that of course you can't have a final frontier, because there'd be nothing for it to be a frontier to, but as frontiers go, it's pretty penultimate...)— Terry Pratchett Well, that was a crazy day. Yesterday, was the NEW WORLDS: SCI-FI / FANTASY CONVENTION . Was running around like a headless chicken from the office to the venue. I had hoped to go on leave yesterday so I could man the booth, but NOOOOO! Three things just had to be happen yesterday and deadlines couldn’t be moved. So, I came in the morning to do the flyer and the print ads. Then went to the SCI-FI CON to set-up. By the time I got there, Gerry already had his WASTED banner up and his book were on the table. Some people were already in their Starfleet uniform. At the X-Files booth, saw a very pretty Scully. (Wonder if her Mulder was lurking around the area.) Noel and wife arrived . And soon after, Dave , Arvie, and Ka...
- a WASTED introduction Below is something I wrote three years ago and it was supposed to be the introduction for the second printing of WASTED. Three years later, WASTED : THE FINAL EDITION finally sees print and my introduction isn't anywhere in those pages. I guess Gerry decided to use the intros written by Barbie and Karen because they're prettier than me. (Just kidding, Ger.) It's okay, Gerry thanked me in his afterword "just because". So, not wanting this piece to go to waste, I post it here. The first time I ever saw Gerry’s artwork I didn’t know it was Gerry’s artwork. I was in the dimly-lit office of Uzi, a short lived tabloid that actually devoted three pages to comic strips and comic book stories. On one of the walls of that office, I saw a very detailed pen-and-ink illustration of two tribesmen running from very menacing mananaggal.
