Posted in the Alamat mailing list : "i got this idea that some of you might find interesting"-- ADAM i got this idea to put out a series of 'zine anthologies of stories (comic book and prose) on various topics, the first of which'll be two female names: APRIL AND MAY. a collection of stories connected only by the subjects (April and May). and the contributors can do ANYTHING with the subjects!! they can do them as lovers, or as sisters, or as mother and daughter, or as complete strangers, or as best of friends, or as transsexuals, whatever. you can do ANYTHING with the two. put them in any setting: in the moon, in the bathroom, in a girl scout jamboree, in a wrestling match, in a bar, wherever. now, the thing will come out as a 'zine, which means the book'll be a bunch of short bond paper folded into two, stapled at the middle. why? as it's easier and cheaper if we do it this way. and hey, i'm volunteering on doing the dirty job for y...

Cafe Creatives is now open! I've been ranting that someone should set-up something like this. Well, I guess it came to the point when I said... heck, I'LL SET IT UP! So, here you go. It's got some visitors already. Mostly lurkers. Maybe I should post something controversial. :)

Confession time... When I was in grade school, I had big crushes on comic book characters... female comic book characters, if I must qualify. Yup, I was that pathetic. I didn't know that real girls existed til late in high school. Anyway, one of my all-time big crushes was Felicia Hardy aka The Black Cat . I loved her platinum blonde hair. I loved that she caused Spider-Man so much trouble. I even bought this Black Cat poster painted by Jusko and it was mainstay in my room til we had to move to a smaller place. I guess Black Cat was supposed to be Spider-Man's Elektra... or she might have been intended to be Marvel's Catowman. They just made the big mistake of giving her super powers, changed her costume, and even gave her claws! Nope. Wrong way to go with her. Death and Taxes I was doing my taxes yesterday... (Three years ago, I wouldn't have believed me saying that)... anyway, it was also yesterday that I found out about the death of the mom of my classmate from college. The day before that, I got a text that the grandfather of a friends passed away. And just today, the uncle of one of the guys in the office had a fatal heart attack. It's just unnerving to suddenly receive such news. Makes you think about your own mortality. Makes you cherish the people around you and be thankful that you are still together. God bless them all. God bless those who are left behind.

Just finshed my timesheet for February. I spent 255 hours working on one project. Well, it was several projects under one project. And it's now airing!!! :) You might have seen it already! Some people say they like it . Then again, you can't please everyone . ****

How I Feel Check out the Mr. Headbanger on the upper left-hand corner of Dan O'Leary's website. That's me. That's me at my computer trying to write the one line I've been trying to write for the past two weeks. Two weeks... 14 days... 336 hours... All that time trying to get the right line... it doesn't even have to be the perfect line... but it's going to be the line that will make you go, "Ahhhh!" With all of the other lines I've written have been able to get that kind of reaction from my bosses and my teammates and client. Tomorrow is the presentation. Somewhere between now and tomorrow, I hope to bump into that "elusive line" and that will make everything work. It's been three weeks since I've had my fix. And today being EDSA day, going to Comic Quest would be ridiculous. I just hope I can do to Megamall on Wednesday. The new stuff arrives this Wednesday. Maybe the line I'm looking for is ...

DAREDEVIL THE MOVIE According to Variety, Jon Favreau is in final negotiations to play Foggy Nelson in the upcoming Daredevil movie . Nelson, of course, is Matt Mudock’s legal partner and best friend. Ben Affleck stars as Murdock/Daredevil, Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Michael Clark Duncan as Kingpin, and Colin Farrell as Bullseye. The film version of the Marvel comic has a tentative release date of January 17, 2003, recently moved up a month. Mark Steven Johnson wrote the script and is directing the film.

THE COMIC COLLECTIVE is an Ateneo de Manila comic book org and they're launching their first comic book this month. Good luck to them! We definitely need more people who are enthusiastic to tell them stories and willing to take the risk to publish them!

Today... It took me an hour to get a cab. When I got in the cab, playing in the radio, was Barry Manilow's "Mandy". Was late for my meeting. Flowers being delivered everywhere. Kris Aquino was born today. Happy Valentine's-- bah humbug!

Kinda late, but I’ll talk about it anyway… Got to watch FROM HELL during the weekend. Actually watched it twice because I accompanied by mom and brother last Sunday. (Yes, yes, I watched it twice despite it’s slow pace.) It was then I realized that FROM HELL felt like an episode of Chris Carter’s MILLENNIUM , `cause the detective assigned to the case also had psychic abilities. FROM HELL was nice… not thrilling, but nice. And because it also starred Johnny Depp, I could not help but compare it Tim Burton’s SLEEPY HOLLOW , which seemed to have more character, that it had that distinct look. Even Coppola’s DRACULA had that “look”. Then again, maybe the Hughes Brothers didn’t want that “look”… maybe they just wanted the film to look it was set in London during 1888. I also got to watch VANILLA SKY . I liked it. I know a lot of people don’t like it. Most people don’t seem to like it because they didn’t get it. Yes, it was long. Yes, it was confusing. Last week I was trying to come up idea for my wonderful clients and was stuck. Since I was just sitting in Starbucks and was just rambling on my scratch paper, I decided to get a little help from my friends. I texted them and asked, "How has your life changed ever since you got a cellphone? What makes have a cellphone so good?" And these are their answers: Because of caller ID, I can now ignore those I don’t want to talk to. Traffic doesn’t frustrate me as much. Coordinating with your wife/gf in a big mall is easier. Kills a boring day. Makes life more fun for flirts. Shows you’re not forgotten. Keeping in touch with friends that I don’t always see. Round up people for movie night. My friends keep changing plans. Brandie got me this book for Christmas. And he got it for two reasons: 1. Because the book cover looked cool. 2. And because it has the same title as a story made by the TAGG boys. Brandie scanned the "atom" design and used it as the main design element of the gift wrapper. That yellow atom on a red background is now in my cubicle. It's sort of my icon or sigil. To remind me to focus. That there can be power in something so small. Other Voyager Classsics are now available at Powerbooks. Makes me want to collect all of them just because they would all look so cool on my bookshelf. All of them are priced at P339 even though some are thicker than others.
