HAPPY 3RD BIRTHDAY TO THE KOMIKON! MY, HOW YOU'VE GROWN! MY BIRTHDAY WISH FOR YOU WOULD BE...

But before anything else, Wella would like to thank all the people who bought copies of Trese, Skyworld and Maskarado.

Last year, during the early afternoon of the Komikon, I was alone at the table. So, I was the one handing over copies to the buyers, getting their payment, using my cellphone to computer for change (because I suck at math), rummaging for change from my Superman lunchbox, then sign their copy of TRESE (if they asked for an autograph). By the time Shali and the other arrived, I looked like a headless chicken. Shali said I looked less frantic this year.
And the main reason for that is Wella and Shali-- our sale girls / promodizers (yes, there is such a term for people).

After a couple of minutes of sitting at the table, Wella and Shali had perfected their patter. "Hi! This is the new comic book Skyworld. And this is the complete set of Trese. If you buy all seven copies you get one for free. And there's also Maskarado over here." Then, after making a sale, they point to the three stooges standing behind them. "By the way, this is (fill in name of creator here). He (wrote / drew) this comic book. Would you like him to autograph your copy?"

And they kept doing that until 6pm.

They're the real super heroes of the Komikon!
hehehe :)

Anyway, thanks again to everyone who got copies of TRESE! We hope to announce really wonderful news about it early next year.

By first or second week of December, we should be able to bring KADILIMAN and SKYWORLD some of the comic book stores. Will announce it as soon as they're available.

THE BIRTHDAY WISH...
Congratulations to the organizers of the KOMIKON for another successful event. Congratulations to all the comic book creators who launched new titles, who keep telling stories, who are always willing to share their words and art. I wish to see all of you again in the next Komikon. I hope you will have more than one new issues to share (says the man who came to the Komikon last year with Trese #6 and came to this year's con with just Trese #7 HAHAHAAH).

I wish to see your comic books in the comic book stores and magazine shops and book stores.

If you listened closely to some of the talks happening at the tables, there seem to be a couple of publishers and new companies that are interested in giving comic book publishing a try and that means they'll need material. I wish you find yourself a good and honest business partner/publisher; one who's concerned for the art as much as they're concerned with the business of it.

I wish that next year, there'll be so many new comic books we'll need a bigger venue (with airconditioning! please? Did you see me sweating in all those pictures? Bad trip!)

See you all next year!

See you sooner in the comic book stores!

Hi, Budj.
I've finally started tweaking my new blog. It's at happyathomehilda.blogspot.com. The learning curve is much steeper here! I've added a link to your Babbling Point.

PANDAY RIDING THAT HEROIC CYCLE Below is an email ELSA BIBAT posted in the Alamat mailing list , prompted by a thread about making/writing/creating a new Panday story. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Okay, okay, I'm back...and I was hoping to have a break from writing stuff. Anyway, it is incredible that someone actually remembered the post. It's been lost to time for exactly a two years now. Thank you for notifying me. Let's begin with the original videotapes. My original videotapes are lost to time, but, I caught all three of the trilogy in ABS-CBN's FPJ Theater... or was that Saturday Action Cinema? GMA 7 went the entire nine yards and showed the entire series in one of their old Tagalog action film shows that were on Saturday nights. The sight alone of the aliens of Panday IV raising the undead and turning innocent villagers to badly made-up extras makes my belly ache. As an aside, FPJ should exercise the rights a...

I AM A FILIPINO

I am a Filipino – inheritor of a glorious past, hostage to the uncertain future. As such, I must prove equal to a two-fold task – the task of meeting my responsibility to the past, and the task of performing my obligation to the future. I am sprung from a hardy race – child many generations removed of ancient Malayan pioneers. Across the centuries, the memory comes rushing back to me: of brown-skinned men putting out to sea in ships that were as frail as their hearts were stout. Over the sea I see them come, borne upon the billowing wave and the whistling wind, carried upon the mighty swell of hope – hope in the free abundance of the new land that was to be their home and their children’s forever. This is the land they sought and found. Every inch of shore that their eyes first set upon, every hill and mountain that beckoned to them with a green and purple invitation, every mile of rolling plain that their view encompassed, every river and lake that promised a plentiful living ...
Couple of weeks ago, Ms. Diyco featured another campaign made by the creatives here at Harrison Communications. Here's her review about the Neozep "Neozerye" TV campaign: Romancing the mighty colds cure ADS AND ENDS, Nanette A Franco-Diyco BUSINESS WORLD Vol. XX, No. 139, Friday-Saturday, February 9-10, 2007 http://www.bworldonline.com/Weekender020907/main.php?id=marketing_diyco The four television commercials that serialize the life of pretty housemaid Luwalhati, culminating in a storybook wedding to her once-upon-a-time señorito from the imposing mansion belong to an ad campaign awards class all its own. There have been other spoofs of soap operas selling other brand categories in the past. But for several reasons put together, the Neozep series of commercials that began with honest-to-goodness ad teasers that looked and sounded like teasers for true-blue soap operas proved ultra entertaining and more importantly, "reinforced Neozep’s leadership and further s...
