ITO ANG BEAT!
Check out Coke's summer promo... something the local telcos should've thought of. Instead, we've got TEXT KEYWORD TO 2XXX written on the soda cans... and that's their bright idea for a big promo. It's times like these when we, the so-called texting capital of the world, feel so third world.
About 120 Coke cans are being covertly converted into a combination global positioning satellite receiver and cell phone. The lucky cola drinkers who find the high-tech cans can claim the grand prizes — but won't know when or where they'll arrive.
Consumers who find the winning cans activate the technology to call a pre-programmed hotline. They then must agree that Coke "search teams," using the GPS tracker, can surprise them anyplace, anytime up to three weeks to deliver the prizes, which include a 2005 Chevy Equinox SUV, a chance on $1 million through Harrah's Casino, Disney vacations and home entertainment systems.
Astig, di ba?!

JUST TEXT IT!
Okay, so maybe we came up with the bright idea of making a reality-TV-show-which-kinda-like-ripped-off-the-Amazing-Race-except-we-gave-the-contestants-cellphone-and-that's-how-they-receive-their-clues... but this Nike promo gets the whole city up and running.
Nike launched Operation 6453 -- a scavenger hunt set in New York City that combines SMS short codes with an on-foot search for 16 poster locations throughout the city. Entrants must send a blank SMS to short code 6543 (NIKE) to receive registration instructions.
At the registration site, a map will indicate the general location of the posters then an SMS short message sent by Nike to entrants will alert players to the cross streets of the latest posting.
Once players spot the posters, they send a short SMS message back to Nike which registers the time they saw the poster. The shorter the time between the posters' posting and players' SMS response, the higher the score. There will be four postings per day.
At the end of the four day period, the players with the highest scores will win a limited edition version of Nike's Air Force-X MID, designed by legendary NYC street artist, Stash. Runners up will have a chance to purchase the shoes at an exclusive pre-launch event.
