revamped and remixed Don't you just love this rendition of the B72 girls. From the top, that's Kupcake, Pammy, and Kadi (and Kadi's little shadow-creatures). This is another pin-up by Ian Sta. Maria, who seems to be on a drawing-streak these days. (Not that I'm complaining.) I'm just trying to time it right and ask him to do a whole comic book. The funny thing is, I've been trying to write this new story about the band, but other things come out. Early this year, photographer Eddie Boy Escudero finally had a one-man exhibit, which featured his photos of the club/party scene of the late 90s and the early years of 2000. Instead of captions, Karen Kunawicz wrote these blurbs which ran underneath the photos (and sometimes the words would zig and zag and loop around the photos). She wrote the words on the wall and used differnt type and different colored pens. It was like the pictures danced with words and vice-versa. At the end of that night, I joined Eddie Boy and his angels for a very late dinner at the Fort. While wolfing down his pasta, Eddie Boy told Karen that the exhibit would not have been complete if she didn't provide the words. I just smiled and couldn't agree more. Karen and Eddie Boy have been partying ever since I met them and they've covered many a concert and party. . Required Reading A couple of weeks ago, Patch Buenaventura left a message on my comments board. He wanted to interview me about "And All Things Nice" , a story I wrote that got included in the FAST FOOD FICTION anthology. So, I emailed him and answers his questions. I then asked what made him decide to do a report on my story. Turns out "And All Things Nice" is part of their English class reading list. Tapsirockin' Sunday Rockjock DYLAN, host of NU107's Tapsirock Every Sunday afternoon, I usually tune in to NU107 before the family leaves the house and get to listen to Tapsirock, a show devoted to Pinoy rock. Dylan usually invites people from the bands or from the music industry, like the owners of Club Dredd and music journalists. Every now and again, when she gets guests that we've met during the hey-day of Alamat, I'd text in and say hello. So, it was quite a surprise when I got a text from Dylan inviting me to be a guest in her show. Last Sunday, I went to the station and bring a book full of CDs and comic books. Comic book geek that I am, I based my entire playlist on comic book characters and comic book creators. We started the show with The Jerks' "Rage". Radio Goo Goo Hey kids! I'll be the guest DJ / guest speaker / guest-guy this Sunday at NU107's "Tapsirock". The show usually would have personalities from the rock and roll scene as guest DJs. They bring along their CD collection, as well as their memories from their glory days. NU jock Dylan, the host of the show, invited me and I don't really know why. Maybe it's because I always text in during her show. It was nice to hear Robbie Sunico and Patrick Reindenbach talk about the good old Club Dredd days.
