new Tattoo TVCs 2011

While I was away in Manchester, the team had a lot of fun putting this campaign together. For the Globe Tattoo campaign of 2011, the team got to work with marathon runner Coach Rio de la Cruz , singer and real-life tattoo artist Sarah Gaugler , and the Philippines' cosplayer goddess Alodia Gosiengfiao ! Director Stephen Ngo and the special FX / CG team at Underground Logic did a great job in producing these FX-heavy TV commercials. I was told that the Alodia shoot took two days because of all the costume changes! But it was all worth it, I think, because after a only a couple of days of airing and being put online, it already got over 29,000 views.  These TVCs were recently featured in Adobo Magazine: http://www.adobomagazine.com/global/module.php?LM=news.level1&id=1296797455996 See behind the scene pictures at: http://blessmybag.com/2011/02/06/behold-the-cosplay-queen-pt-1/#more-2677 CREDITS Client: Globe Product: Tattoo Agency: Harrison Communications Con...

GENTXT (2005 campaign)

!!!FLASHBACK FRIDAY!!! Back in 2005, I got dragged into helping out with this project, where I got to work with director Romeo Candido . This campaign was Romeo first advertising work in the Philippines. He would later say that this project gave him a crash course on how it is to work in Philippine advertising. Years later, after he directed the horror movie "Ang Pamana: The Inheritance" , we got work with him again on the viral videos we did to promote the Neil Gaiman event in Subic . 1 2 3 4 This commercial stars Teddy Corpuz, who was just starting out as the singer of the band Rocksteddy. The team found him in a casting session for a project that never pushed through. When we needed to find a new Gentxt guy, they immediately remembered him and knew that he was perfect for the role.

Duo or Die!

Congrats to the DUO OR DIE-hard TEAM that worked on this project! It'll become one the legendary "war stories" that you'll tell your grandkids about. And now, a word from... bloggers who've reviewed the Globe Duo service: http://chuvaness.livejournal.com/626112.html http://jepoy.bengero.com/2009/06/globe-duo-review.html Media magazine reports about GLOBE DUO http://tr.im/ubF0 Philippines telecom company Globe Telecom is making landlines obsolete in a new television commercial for its Globe Duo service. Created by McCann-Erickson’s subsidiary Harrison Communications, the advertisement portrays depressed fixed-line phones and mobiles running on a different, sub-standard network. "We need to shake up the market. We have to fight the inertia consumers have about switching from their current cellphone service provider," said executive creative director Alex Arellano. "Everybody’s offering the same deals, the same price offs. Telco is...

Aling Geena! Pa-GLOOOBE!!!

We've been working on this project for the past two months and it was great to finally see it air. One of the first ideas we had for this service involved super-heroes. Us, being the geeks, loved the idea. It was a matter of trying to sell it to client. Since the main idea behind the service is: no matter how tough things get, it's easy to get your friends together if you've got a Globe. So, we thought: super heroes always get into trouble and they always need help, so instead of using a Bat-signal, they'll just text the whole Justice Legion of Super Hero Avengers. If we did push through with that idea, we would've had to face the logistical problem of designing and making 200+ super hero costumes. The next idea that Taps came up with was a guy being chased by ninjas (or ninja... since that is supposed the plural of the word ninja, but it just sounds so cool to say ninjas). So, the guy is being chase by a bunch of ninjas, he texts his clan and 200+ samurai c...

connected 24ever And so it all comes down to this. After two months of secret meetings, weekends lost to OT, gaining weight thanks to all the OT food (we got an umbrella from Aristocrat because we ordered so much from them), last minute / last second revisions, twists in the plot that would make Jack Bauer just surrender and cry, we finally, finally launched Globe’s new campaign. Hundreds of hours of work, all compressed into 30-seconds. Of course, you can expect more that just this 30-second TV commercial. Below are the credits of the people behind this launch material. But if were to list every single person that helped conceptualize, strategize, craft, and execute this campaign, I might as well just attach the entire directory of the McCann World Group. It was, most definitely, an unforgettable learning and trying experience. Stay tuned! More to come! Kookaburra This was my very first TV commercial. It aired in 1999. Even though I was credited as the writer of this material, I really just wrote one line here. (Back then, every time I saw the commercial on TV and heard that line said out loud, I felt so thrilled. “I wrote that! That’s my line!”) The entire script was actually written by my CD, Dadi Santos. The germ for the story came from a letter she received from her friend in Australia. The postage stamp was a kookaburra. During the shoot, I was so excited to finally see and be part of a TV commercial. Then it got boring when I realized that a two second scene in a commercial entails several takes, which translates to several hours. It also made me realize how every little nuance is important since we only have 30-seconds to tell a story. I remember walking around Megamall with my mom and we passed-by a Globe booth that was showing the commercial. She stopped and dragged me to the booth and we watched the TVC and she proudly told ...
The Globe IDD campaign (2002) IDD reunion IDD trophy We weren’t supposed to work on this project. I came to the office and found Argem brainstorming for the new IDD campaign. He had this idea for a guy who was calling up his OFW dad, thanking him for the pasalubong he got. In the span of an afternoon we came up with four stories. Argem then worked til 3AM, drawing the storyboards. Back then, our routine was, he’d leave the boards on my desk and I’d just pick them up before going to the meeting. So, I got the meeting and realized that Argem only gave me three storyboards. He didn’t get draw the TROPHY story. I texted him and he replied, apologizing that he was too tired to draw the fourth board. The meeting started. One team presented several boards and I presented my three boards and one script. As luck would have it, they chose the last two stories we presented. TRIVIA: During the first year of Globe’s (G)-moments campaign, we use one guy to do all the VOs. He was the “Voice...
The Globe MMS campaign (2002) PHOTO MSG TRAFFIC CAM We’ve got cameo appearances all over these two TV commercials. In TRAFFIC CAM, I did the voice of the grumbling guy. Telly, the producer, thought I was perfect for the part. In PHOTO MSG, Taps did the voice of the tall guy. And, of course, that was my photo with Donita in the phone screen. That picture was shot during the last shooting day of Donita's second GENTXT commercial. It was around 2AM and the director just yelled, “Pack up!” The cast and crew were lining up to get their picture taken with the MTV VJ. Dadi, my CD, pushed me beside Donita and yelled, “Picture! Picture!” Next thing I knew, I was getting hugged by Donita and the flash going off. Cut-to: months later, me and Argem were working on the storyboard for the PHOTO MSG service. The script called for a “loser guy” who gets to meet a beautiful celeb and his friends wouldn’t believe him. Argem was the one you remembered that photo and placed in the storyboard...
March 2002 : we launched Globe's "making great things possible campaign". Here are the three TV commercials that started the campaign. PUNK KAMI NA FUNNY GUY FOOTNOTES: PUNK was originally about a punk-rocker guy who was tormenting his kid brother. The commercial was supposed to start in the back of the car and their parents were taking them to school. The Punk Kid was making fun of his baby brother and acting all tough. He then gets a call from his girlfriend and he starts talking to her in this cutesy voice and starts to say things like, "Hi baby! Love you, baby!". So, when they finally get to school, Punk Kid gets out of the car. And just as he joins his punk barkada , the whole family calls out to him and yell, "Bye baby! Love you, baby!" That was the initial story. But we already had the "Kami na" and "Funny Guy" story. We couldn't have all our stories to be so humorous. So, it was re-written without the baby brother....
