Man of Mystery This is Mr.Mysteryoso. He's our Dr.Strange/Dr.Fate-analog. He's another member of the Golden Age Justice Corps. Taps came up with the name and Arnold came up with the look. We didn't really know what the heck he did at first. Arvie was the one who came with the idea of the shapeshifting cape. (Art by HAI . See more if Hai's art here .)
Starstruck! I noticed that some people still end up in my blog becuase they Googled "Angel Locsin pics bikini Darna costume". Sorry kids... you don't get to see that here. But as a consolation of sorts, here's a pretty pin-up of Bituin, one of the characters from Batch72. She's our Wonder Woman/Darna-analog. Readers got to see an older, more wrinkled version of her in Batch72 #3 . If you'd like to see the younger, sexier version of Bituin in action, then please find me an artist willing to work on an 80-page story set in the 1940s. Thank you. (BITUIN art by Ian Sta. Maria. You can see more of Ian's art here .)

. Day Job "Our day job was advertising. we did some pretty crappy advertising wrok! Neal Adam's Continuity Associates was a real halfway house for all of us; he would give us grunt work and we got, like, ten bucks an hour, and comics became something people did almsot as an avocation." That was a time when people really were in comics for no reason other than love of the medium." -- Frank Miller, from EISNER/MILLER (Dark Horse) Well, it seems like I'm on the right path. I've got the day job, now all I need to do is get the comic book gig. When I got this job I tried my best to still keep busy and active with doing comic books. So, far have been able to published three stories in the past six years. I should consider myself lucky. It's funny-- I now work with three guys who used to do comic books and one guy who used to do children's books. You'd think we'd be able to sneak in some comic book pages during our free time. (Well, Carl worked wit...
. I just had to translate some body copy from Filipino to English and part of it mentioned "Aparri to Sitangkai", which made me wonder "Where the heck is Sitangkai?" So, I Googled the place and found this picture. FROM : http://www.madnomad.com/gregg/rp_03.html Looks like a nice place to visit.
. My Own Private Manhattan Project The other night I dreamnt that I was in the X-Mansion and Prof.X put me in charge of the new X-MEN team. When I entered the Danger Room I was surprised to find The Watchmen waiting for me. The Comedian looked at me from head to foot and then turned away to flirt with the Silk Spectre. As Prof. X wheeled himself out of the Danger Room he said, "Oh yeah, you also have to deal with him." The room was suddenly filled with a bright, blue light and Dr. Manhattan materialized in front of me. Seeing the most powerful member of The Watchmen filled me with great fear-- felt out of place and intimitated. And that's when I woke up. From what I remember, I didn't even have any mutant powers in that dream. I wasn't even in uniform! I think I was wearing a checker polo and jeans. Heck, I wasn't even Cyclops! Weird. Couldn't help but think that was dream was work related.
. In today's paper, there's an ad that tells you there are over 200,000 children living on the streets and that if you want to help you should call this number. On the opposite page, there's an ad that tells you that for only P800 a day, you can own a brand new BMW. The medium is the message and the message is confusing.
. I had a dream last night. In my dream, I had insomnia. So I woke up tired, restless and felt like I didn't sleep. Weird-Vertigo-moment.
Aaaahhh-choooo!!! I'm sick again. Been sick since Saturday. Didn't get to go to work Tuesday and Wednesday. I went back to work today. Brain feels clogged by the mucus. Hope Friday will be better. Hope next week will be better. Sorry folks, I've got nothing coherent to say right now. So, here's something from Joey, age 8 . "Lord, Thank you for helping me pass the La Salle text. I ask for forgiveness for guessing, but thank You for helping me to guess right. "
Back when I was very young, when I was in grade school, when I was watching too much Johnny Carson and David Letterman when I should've been sleeping because it was a school night, I made a joke about Mother's Day. I think I cracked it during some dinner with some relatives. I said, "What's the big deal about Mother's Day?! Every day we kiss them and hug them. So, isn't every day Mother's Day anyway?" Nobody got the joke. I thought it was funny. (I was a sarcastic little kid.) That night I saw my mom crying in the bedroom. She told me that she got hurt with what I said. I tried to explain the joke, but that didn't matter. I said sorry and hugged her and kissed her. I stayed up the whole night putting together a crayon-drawn card. On the front, it showed a little kid holding up a placard that said, "Mother's Day? No way!" And when you opened the card, it showed the same kid, but this time the copy on the placard said, "Celebrate M...
The day before you left for New York, Kuya and I were playing ball in the house. It happened so fast. The pass I gave Kuya was so strong, the ball bounced off his hands and found its way to the living room mantle. Time seemed to stop as your favorite plate fell to the floor. Tears flowed down my cheeks as you walked in the room.I closed my eyes expecting you to shout in anger. Instead, I slowly felt the warmth of your embrace. I’ve kept that plate ever since. Every time I see it and every time I call you on my Globe, I’m reminded that someday I’ll feel your arms around me once more. . A problem with the dilithium crystals? I drive a 1990 Nissan Sentra. When I go to work, I start the engine, turn on the radio and wait for the engine to warm-up. Then I turn on the aircon and head-off to work. When I go home, I start the engine, drive out of the basement carpark, then switch on the aircon-- and then, I switch on the radio. After driving down a couple of block, the radio sputters and spits out white noise and then just dies. So, I drive home in silence. The next morning, I start the engine, turn on the radio-- AND IT WORKS AGAIN! So, any electrical engineers out there who might have a theory on what's wrong with my car? Of course, my brother would immediately say, "It simple means, it's time to buy a new car!" This reminds me of the story of the car that was allergic to vanilla ice cream. (which I found by Googling the words " car engine vanilla ice cream ") Seems like it's a really famous story. Click here if you want to read it. Oh, a...

Decided to forward Grace's text and get Mark's take on it. Mark texted: None. Everything is meta. Diamonds r artificially priced. All marketing. Everything is in planned obsolesence. Why pay 4 a 20k watch when nxt month theres a new model? After a while sent one more text: Only love lasts. :) Nakanaman!
. TOP 10 VIDEOS Based on Music One and Tower Records videos sales from February 1, 2005 to January 27, 2005. 1. Asia Agcaoili's SEX GURU 2. Exotic Belly Dancing 3. Imelda 4. House of Flying Daggers 5. Meet the Parents 6. White Chicks 7. Magnifico 8. Catwoman 9. Man on Fire 10. Passion of the Christ Looking at the list, it seems like they gathered their info by travelling back in time. How can this be the record of videos sales from February to January? Maybe Music1 and Tower use a different kind of calendar. Maybe it's a musical calendar? It seems like lots of Pinoys got the "Sex Guru" and "Exotic Bellydancing" videos in order to prepare for their Valentines dates. Later on, they felt guilty they ever went on that date and decided to get "Passion of the Christ". Then there were the poor saps who decided to get "Catwoman". Why? WHY?! Would would they do something stupid like that? Maybe they couldn't get any dates during V-day and jus...
. My mom hoped that her second child would be a girl. That’s why she was planning to name her Franchesa-Bernadette, I honor of her two best friends. As fate would have it, her second child turned out to be a boy. And that’s why he got named Francis-Bernard. My dad’s favorite drink, til the day he died, was Fundador Brandy. That’s what he usually drank when he got home at night, while watching TV and smoking his cigarettes. He’d take a sip of brandy and a sip from his tall glass of water. And that’s why Francis-Bernard got the nickname Brandie. When we were kids, my mom would always point out to guests that Brandie’s a Taurus and I’m a Scorpio and that’s why we’ll always clash. Maybe it was because I kept hearing that spiel over and over again and that’s why I didn’t want Brandie around me. (Or maybe baby brothers always have that amazing power to annoy you-- at whatever age.) Anyway, I remember the times when I’d try to keep him out of the playroom so I can have all the toys to myself...
. The Princeling Who Ran Away Jessica Zafra Some months ago, a beautiful white cat took up residence in my building. He appears to be of some foreign breed—larger than the average male cat, white, with black ears and a long, thick black tail. Most cats have an aristocratic bearing, but this one has the air of a foreign princeling who escaped from his retinue to go slumming among the common people. Sort of like Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday, except that she didn’t eat mice or poop in the yard. The story of his arrival varies according to which security guard is telling it, but apparently everyone witnessed the great event. In one version, the cat was crouching in the back seat of a moving SUV when he suddenly leapt out the window and dashed towards our building. In another version, he was sitting on the lap of a woman in a white maid’s uniform, and the vehicle was a late-model Mercedes Benz. The accounts vary, but they all mention his grand origins, or as they put it, “Sosyal yang pus...
